Terms of Use
Last updated: 8 September 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of riddleup.com (the "Site"), a free collection of riddles, brain teasers, quizzes, puzzles and word games. By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with them, please stop using the Site.
1. Who we are
Riddle Up is an independent, advertising-supported riddle and puzzle library. We do not require an account, we do not sell anything, and the entire riddle collection is free to read. You can reach us at hello@riddleup.com or through our contact page.
2. Permitted use
You may read, solve, print and share riddles from the Site for personal, classroom, family and other non-commercial use. Teachers, parents, camp counsellors and quiz hosts are explicitly welcome to use our riddles in lessons, worksheets and events.
You may not:
- scrape, bulk-copy or systematically download the collection in order to republish it, in whole or in substantial part, on another site or in a product;
- use the Site or its content to train a commercial machine-learning model without our written permission;
- attempt to disrupt the Site, its games or its leaderboards, including by automating game submissions or interfering with rate limits;
- remove or obscure any attribution, branding or copyright notice.
3. Riddles and intellectual property
Many riddles are traditional, folkloric or otherwise in the public domain; nobody owns "What has legs but doesn't walk?". Where a riddle is traditional, we claim no ownership of the riddle itself. What we do own is the Site: our written answer explanations, hints, difficulty ratings, category structure, editorial copy, design, code and branding. Those are protected by copyright and may not be reproduced without permission.
If you believe something on the Site infringes your rights, email us with the URL and a description of the material and we will review and, where appropriate, remove it promptly.
4. Games, scores and leaderboards
Our timed games and leaderboards identify players with a long-lived browser cookie rather than an account. Scores are therefore tied to a browser, not a person: clearing your cookies, switching device or using private browsing will start you afresh. We may remove scores that appear to be automated or manipulated, and we may reset a leaderboard at any time. Nicknames that are abusive, obscene or impersonate someone else will be removed.
5. Accuracy of content
We work to keep answers and explanations correct, but riddles are, by nature, open to interpretation, and some have more than one defensible answer. Content is provided "as is" without warranty of accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose. If you spot a wrong answer, please tell us - corrections from readers are one of the main ways the collection improves.
6. Advertising and third-party links
The Site may display advertising and may link to third-party sites. We do not control that content and are not responsible for it. Following an external link is at your own discretion.
7. Availability
We aim to keep the Site available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Site, including individual riddles, categories or games, without notice.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Riddle Up is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site.
9. Children
A large part of our collection is written for children, and the Site is designed to be safe for family use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. See our Privacy Policy for detail.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version, and continued use of the Site after a change constitutes acceptance of it.
